Types of diamonds
2 TYPES OF DIAMONDS
For diamond painting, we offer you a choice of two 2 types of diamonds – round or square. When you place your order, choose which shape you like best.
What’s the difference between them? See a comparison of the two types!
ROUND DIAMONDS
- Simply place the diamond in the middle of the hole without having to check its edges.
- This means round diamonds are better for beginners.
- Although gaps between the diamonds are almost invisible on the canvas, because each diamond has the same coloured base, the gaps are slightly larger – a 5 cm section fits about 18 round diamonds.
SQUARE DIAMONDS
- In the case of square diamonds, it is necessary to glue them exactly to the edge.
- They are more demanding, the technique of laying them on the canvas requires greater precision.
- The gaps between the diamonds are only minimal gaps – a 5 cm section fits about 20 square diamonds.
CAN’T MAKE UP YOUR MIND?
If you are not sure which type you like better, you can order one of our smallest 20x30 cm motifs for a trial. Use it to simply try the laying technique of both types, before finally deciding on your preferred type for a large painting.
The colour palette is the same for both types, so choosing one type of diamond will not affect the quality and colour shades of the finished image.
FIXING THE FINISHED IMAGE
If you are thinking about varnishing the finished image to protect it from dust and to fix the diamonds in place even better, you can use this for both types of diamonds.
However, due to the fact that there are larger gaps between round diamonds, varnishing is more suitable because the varnish, which is liquid before drying, fills all the gaps beautifully.
